4-star QB Dakereon Joyner set to commit with South Carolina as his favorite

A Carolina school will likely get a player with a good arm.

Dakereon Joyner is between two Carolina schools, and the prospect will commit on Sunday.

The four-star recruit is the No. 10 dual-threat QB, according to the 247Sports Composite. His athleticism at this point is his best attribute. He’s being recruited by some schools as a WR, RB, or DB.

With South Carolina as the clubhouse leader for his commitment and NC State in the running as well, Joyner is prioritizing schools that want him as a QB. Make no mistake, he can definitely spin it like you can see in the video below:

“Different sites say different things. I think I’ve proven that I’m a quarterback, and I can run. If you ask any college coach, I’m a passer before a runner. I take my time and go through my progressions,” he said.

The pointed assertion here that he’s a passer is savvy from the young man. There is an obvious racial bias against quarterbacks of color, and Joyner’s trying to nip that in the bud at this early age to control the narrative around his skills.

If he practices what he preaches on the field, he’ll have a better chance to prolong his football career from a health standpoint.
