Watch Arizona OL dismantle team’s old uniform with extreme prejudice

Arizona got some new football uniforms on Tuesday and they look pretty sweet. Plenty of color combos, including the all-white look that should be required by NCAA regulation if you ask me.

Before the unveil, though, Arizona fans got some great catharsis. Many aren’t so keen on the gradient uniform numbers the team has sported the last few seasons.

Thankfully, offensive lineman Jacob Alsadek ushered in the new uniform era by chucking the old helmet and tearing the old jersey in two.

The big guy actually ripping the jersey isn’t something to scoff at, either. These things are scientifically engineered to not rip on a whim, and the guy shreds it easily. Here’s an explanation of Nike’s new uniform technology.

“We removed all of the seams from the front of the jersey and shoulders to help improve stretch, mobility, range of motion and durability — insights we’ve taken directly from our athletes. This creates a shrink-wrap fit, resulting in fewer grab points for the opposing team,” explains Nate Retzlaff, Nike’s Design Director of NFL and NCAA Apparel.

The Wildcats will look a lot better on the gridiron this season with this set, but will looking good translate to them playing good? We’ll see.
