*Running back* Saquon Barkley’s now broken a Penn State weightlifting record

He certainly does lift, bro.

Penn State RB Saquon Barkley is strong. In fact, he’s one of the strongest young men to ever play at Penn State, and this is a quantifiable fact. Last March, Barkley matched a program record (equaling a lineman) for biggest power clean at 390 pounds.

A couple of weeks ago, he bested that with a 405 pound rep:

Here’s just a taste of what Barkley was doing last year:

According to PennLive.com, the 222-pound Barkley has squatted 495 pounds seven times, benched 390, and run a 4.38 second 40-yard dash this winter.

That was before he burst onto the scene as the electric spark plug to a high-octane Penn State offense. He is a physical marvel, and his strength coach refers to him as a once-a-decade talent.

If he leaves school for the NFL draft next spring, he’ll likely smash his tests at the combine and is certainly on track to be a really high selection despite his relatively expendable position. Our Dan Kadar has him as the best running back prospect in the country already.

Have fun trying to tackle this guy.
