Week 5 college football rankings: Georgia enters human top-10s

All the rankings are right in here after the week that was.

College football’s Week 4 was low on marquee games. There were only two ranked-versus-ranked matchups, and they ended with Georgia crushing Mississippi State and TCU putting a road licking on Oklahoma State.

Florida State lost at home to NC State. Florida beat Kentucky because UK literally forgot to cover a guy in the last minute. And Oregon’s leaving the polls after losing to Arizona State.

Among other close-call upset bids, Penn State avoided its first loss with a last-second, all-or-nothing touchdown throw to beat Iowa. Alabama, still your No. 1, buried Vanderbilt.

Ultimately, the only ranking that matters at the top is one the College Football Playoff’s selection committee puts out. But the first of those doesn’t come out until Halloween, and until then, these rankings are the best barometers for it.
