Florida’s scoreboard literally broke right as the Gators scored 30 points

The machines are just as surprised as the humans watching the performance.

It’s not often that Florida’s offense shows itself to be competent, so when it happens it’s pretty noteworthy. Against Vanderbilt, the Gators are rolling pretty well on offense and eclipsed the 30-point mark with LaMical Perine’s 1-yard rush. But the large video screen in the south end zone of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium stopped showing it.

One could surmise that the board just couldn’t handle all that offense and crapped out as a result.

In actuality, a source told SB Nation that the scoreboards were blanked at the end of the third quarter when the computers running them froze. Surprisingly, the computer system that probably costs 10s of thousands of dollars got fixed simply by a hard reset of the system. All was soon well, and the boards were back on in short order to continue to display Florida’s surprisingly potent offense.

It’s not the first structural issue that’s happened at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium this season either. A few weeks ago, Hurricane Irma knocked some letters off of the stadium’s signage.

If Florida’s offense continues to progress, here’s hoping the technology can keep up.
