Air Force’s sweet new football helmets look like F-35 pilot headgear

The service academies are at it again.

The service academies have amazing football helmets. Army, Navy, and Air Force do headgear better than everyone else, and when they roll out helmets that nod to the military histories of the branches they represent, they’re at their best.

The latest: these Air Force lids:

These helmets are modeled after a military plane, the F-35.

Via the Colorado Springs Gazette:

The football helmet – released in photos on Monday – is modeled after the helmet F-35 pilots wear in flight. There will be five designs for the helmet this year. On one side, the Air Force logo will be a constant. On the other, there will be five decals representing the five F-35A operational fighter squadrons.

We don’t have a full uniform yet. Air Force is going to use a few different looks this year that are modeled around this concept, so we’ll see them when we see them.
