It’s officially NFL draft season, and the speculation will continue to ramp up over the next few months as to who will end up where in April. One of those draft prospects is former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is part of a loaded 2018 class of quarterbacks.
Baker Mayfield clarifies his Instagram comment about the Miami Dolphins
The former Oklahoma QB is a projected top-10 pick in some mock drafts.

While the projections for where Mayfield will end up aren’t entirely consistent, it appeared for a bit he wanted to end up with the Miami Dolphins, as made evident on a comment he made on a live Instagram from Miami receiver Kenny Stills:
A few hours later, Mayfield clarified his comment on Twitter:
The Dolphins are picking 11th in the first round and 10th in the second round. Miami doesn’t exactly need a quarterback with Ryan Tannehill on the roster coming back from injury, but you could argue that Mayfield could give Tannehill a run for his money for the starting job if he ends up there.
Outside of Miami though, Mayfield has other solid landing spots. SB Nation’s Dan Kadar pointed out a few days ago that the Denver Broncos appear to be interested in him:
Although the Broncos have often gone after bigger quarterbacks like Paxton Lynch, Brock Osweiler, or even Trevor Siemian, who is 6’3, they could fall for Mayfield. They specifically requested to coach Mayfield at next week’s Senior Bowl, so we’ll learn more about this fit soon.
And ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., who had Wyoming’s Josh Allen going No. 1 overall in his first 2018 mock draft released Thursday, has Mayfield landing in Washington with the No. 13 pick. This is actually an intriguing concept, given that Kirk Cousins’ free agency status makes it uncertain if he will be with the team next season:
It would depend on whether or not the team can retain Kirk Cousins, but if Washington doesn’t, it will likely be in the market for a quarterback. Still, it doesn’t sound like Kiper thinks Mayfield has a chance at going too much higher than No. 13.
“Don’t count out the Heisman Trophy winner being taken this high,” Kiper wrote. “He is going to get a chance to impress scouts at the Senior Bowl, and I know they’re interested in seeing how he performs.”
We’ll see where Mayfield ends up in a few months.
