Florida vs. Michigan news
- The Gators are looking for their third win over a ranked team in 2018 under Dan Mullen in his first year at the school, after beating No. 23 Mississippi State on Sept. 29 and No. 5 LSU on Oct. 6. “I think you’re at the University of Florida, you expect to be playing not just in bowl games, you expect to be playing in New Year’s Six bowls and championship bowls,” Mullen told reporters Friday.
- The Wolverines will stick with freshman kicker Jake Moody in the Peach Bowl, Harbaugh announced on Friday. Moody took over placekicking duties on Nov. 17 against Indiana and made all six field goal tries. He is 8-for-8 on the season. Moody replaces junior kicker Quinn Nordin, who was a Lou Groza Award finalist in 2017 but this year made 11-of-16 (68.8%) field goal attempts.
Michigan without some stars
The Wolverines at the Peach Bowl are without running back Karan Higdon and defensive end Rashan Gary, both of whom will skip the game to focus on the upcoming NFL Draft. In addition, All-American linebacker Devin Bush hasn’t been cleared from his injury and is out on Saturday, also bound for the NFL Draft. Right tackle Juwann Bushell-Beaty is also sitting out the Peach Bowl.
Higdon led Michigan with 1,221 yards on the ground this season, but expect his production to be replaced by a committee including Chris Evans and Tru Wilson, the duo who combined for 928 rushing yards and averaged more per carry (6.0 yards) then did Higdon (5.3).
One star who will suit up for the Wolverines is quarterback Shea Patterson, who announced on Dec. 21 that he would return for his senior season at Michigan,
