Gene Chizik attended a foam party while accompanying his daughters on a spring break trip

Yes, you read that right.

Former Auburn head coach and UNC defensive coordinator Gene Chizik has been out of coaching since last February, but that doesn’t mean he’s staying out of the news.

Earlier this month, Chizik and his wife Jonna joined his two daughters, Landry and Kennedy, on their spring break trip to Mexico. Chizik proudly calls himself a “helicopter dad”, which, to be honest, if I end up having a daughter I’d want my future husband to be one.

But wait there’s more — Chizik even attended a FOAM PARTY during this spring break trip.

I can’t imagine how awkward I’d feel if my father were attending a foam party that I was also at, but I digress. Chizik shared more of his experience and reasoning behind attending the trip with AL.com:

“They wanted to go on spring break to Mexico, and I said ‘I don’t think that’s going to happen,’” Chizik told AL.com “They were on me and on me and on me about ‘dad, we’re grown up, we’re grown up.’ And they are. I trust them wholeheartedly — I just don’t trust everybody else.

”Little did they know we were going to have a plane flight with them and stay at a hotel that was a mile down the road. That was part of the deal.”

Now look, I totally get where Chizik is coming from. My freshman year spring break I went on a cruise with some sorority sisters, and the only reason I was allowed to go is that one of the friends’ parents were also going. Now I can’t say that I’d personally attend a foam party if my children were, but kudos to Chizik for staying true to his self-proclaimed helicopter dad status.
