Washington messed around and replicated Alabama’s 2016 defensive front by drafting Da’Ron Payne and Shaun Dion Hamilton

Here’s what Alabama’s defensive line depth chart looked like the night they took on Clemson in the 2016 national championship game:

If you’re a Washington fan, a couple of these names should ring a bell. Jonathan Allen, Da’Ron Payne and Ryan Anderson are all now on Washington’s roster now after the selection of Payne at No. 13 in the 2018 NFL Draft.

And you can add Shaun Dion Hamilton to the list as well after he was taken in the sixth round. Hamilton hasn’t played in either of the last two Playoffs due to injury, but the Tide connection continues to run deep.

The band is officially back together in a replication of one of Nick Saban’s best defensive fronts since he took over with the Tide. As far as what Payne brings to the pros? The young man is an absolute baller as an agile force on the inside. During the national championship game against Georgia, six college football coaches on the ESPN Coaches Film Room telecast gushed over his skills.

With the Eagles’ already high octane offense and the Giants taking Saquon Barkley, a defensive pick is a pretty good bet for Washington. We’ll see if Payne can combine with his former Bama teammates to wreak havoc again.
