No. 2 Georgia is facing Missouri on the road Saturday, and the Bulldogs got on the board early in the first quarter after Bulldog DB Tyson Campbell stripped Tiger receiver Albert Okwuegbunam of the ball. Campbell then returned it 64 yards to the house for a touchdown.
Ref shows great technique in lead-blocking for Georgia’s fumble TD return
Kept his feet moving, and never stopped running. Textbook!

Looking again at the touchdown, it looked like the center judge actually helped on the TD pulling off some great downfield blocking on the play. I mean just look at my dude’s technique — watch on the top left of this play:
Notice how the ref keeps his feet while he angles his hips toward the Missouri defender. He keeps himself between the man and the ball and doesn’t even use his hands so there’s no chance of holding. That is just some textbook technique, folks. A lesser athlete may have gotten his feet tangled up too. The importance of keeping one’s feet cannot be understated here either. Don’t give the other refs on the field an excuse to potentially call a tripping penalty. That’s extremely heady play.
The other thing that is noteworthy about this play is that the player who the ref was blocking was Mizzou quarterback Drew Lock. I know Lock is athletic, but I highly doubt he could’ve stopped Campbell from taking it to the house. This ref’s block certainly prevented Lock from trying, though.
