Texas DT T’Vondre Sweat catches a TD, and hits the Heisman pose

Thicc Six perfection in the Big-12 Championship Game

Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat is one of the biggest — and best — defensive tackles in all of college football. Listed at 6’4 and 362 pounds, Sweat was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year at the end of November, having racked up 40 tackles, eight of which went for a loss, and a pair of sacks this season. He is likely an early-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, with the potential to come off the board in the first round.

But in the Big 12 Championship Game against Oklahoma State Saturday, Sweat’s first big contribution came ... on offense?

Yes, on offense.

With the Longhorns leading 14-7 and facing a 1st-and-goal situation at the end of the first quarter, the Texas coaching staff sent in some of their bigger players to align in a jumbo formation. Defensive tackle Byron Murphy II — listed at 6’1 and 308 pounds — was in the backfield as a fullback, while Sweat lined up at tight end.

Quarterback Quinn Ewers took the snap from center and faked a handoff to running back CJ Baxter, before dropping into the pocket to throw? His two targets? A pair of 300-pound defensive linemen. Murphy released to the flat while Sweat ran what we can technically describe as a corner route.

While Murphy was covered, Sweat was wide open:

Not only does Sweat haul in the throw, but he hits the Heisman Trophy pose right after.

Here is another angle of the route, and catch, from the big defensive tackle:

Thicc Six perfection.
