A vast majority of college hockey teams will use the first weekend of 2013 to take on non-conference opponents, but the two best teams in the ECAC are starting the new year off with a bang.
2012 College Hockey schedule: Big top-10 matchup highlights Friday games
Most college hockey teams are taking on non-conference opponents for their first games of 2013.


No. 5 Quinnipiac will welcome No. 8 Dartmouth into the TD Bank Sports Center for a big conference matchup. The game will be televised on NESN and get under way at 7 p.m. ET. Dartmouth received one first place vote in the USCHO men’s rankings poll.
No. 2 Boston College will be at home for another top-25 matchup, this one of the non-conference variety, when they take on No. 17 Yale at 7 p.m. ET. Two teams right next to each other in the rankings, No. 11 Denver and No. 12 Cornell face off in the Mile High City at 9:35 p.m. ET.
No. 14 Minnesota State is set to play against Providence at home at 8:35 p.m. ET, while No. 7 North Dakota will look across the ice at another ranked opponent, No. 20 Holy Cross, when they face off at 8:35 p.m. ET. No. 15 St. Cloud State will take on unranked Northern Michigan, as well.
