It’s Selection Sunday in NCAA hockey, but unlike previous years, where the tournament field is all but officially set at this stage, there’s still one game to be played before we truly project the final field.
NCAA hockey tournament 2013: Notre Dame, Michigan to determine final field
15 teams have punched their ticket to the 2013 NCAA hockey tournament with one game left to determine the final spot. A Michigan win over Notre Dame gives the Wolverines the CCHA title and eliminates the Yale Bulldogs.

Notre Dame and Michigan face off in the CCHA tournament final at 2 p.m. ET Sunday. The Fighting Irish are already guaranteed a spot in the 16-team field, but the Wolverines are playing for their lives. A win earns an auto-bid to the NCAA’s for Michigan and would knock the Yale Bulldogs out of the final at-large spot. They’re sitting on pins and needles in New Haven, hoping for an Irish win.
The rest of the field is all but set, according to the experts at Western College Hockey Blog. Here’s a list of teams that have punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament:
Quinnipiac, Minnesota, UMass-Lowell, Notre Dame, Miami, Boston College, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Denver, Niagara, Minnesota State, Union, St. Cloud State, Wisconsin, and Canisius.
