On Saturday night, two in-state rivals will battle to take home the state of Connecticut’s first ever NCAA hockey championship.

Yale and Quinnipiac do battle tonight to see who takes home their first national title.
Yale and Quinnipiac, both out of the Nutmeg State and the ECAC, will try to take home the NCAA title in Pittsburgh this evening. The two teams got here with victories on Thursday in the Frozen Four semifinals. Despite the fact that they went to overtime, the Bulldogs were largely the better team for most of their semifinal game against the UMass-Lowell Riverhawks, outshooting Lowell 48-17. Andrew Miller scored at 6:59 of overtime to give Yale the win.
The Bobcats dominated their semifinal as well, but saw more immediate results. They had a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period over St. Cloud State and went on to win by the score of 4-1. Ben Arnt had the game-winning goal at 5:07 of the first period.
The two teams have battled three times this season, with Quinnipiac having won all three games by a combined score of 13-3. Tonight could be different, however, and we’ll see who shows up to play and eventually take home a national championship for the first time in their school’s history.
