Bangalore qualified for the semi-finals after winning two games in a row, despite having earlier lost two in succession. One of these wins was a big enough one over Somerset, to edge Kolkata Knight Riders out of the tournament on net run-rate and the other saw T Dilshan and Virat Kohli chase down 215.
New South Wales are the only side in the competition to win three games in the main draw. They lost the opener but came back to get home victorious in the next three matches.
Key Players:
On a batting paradise, the New South Wales Blues will rely on Dave Warner but they will also want some of the other players to get the form going. So far, it has been a difficult series for most of the rest. The pace of Patrick Cummins could also be the key.
For Bangalore, their top three batsmen are the key – Chris Gayle, Dilshan and Virat Kohli. If one of them can bat through the innings, while the others can play quickfire cameos, the Blues could just be staring at a big one.
And they will miss...
The New South Wales Blues have played all their games at Chennai and that means that playing on a much easier pitch in Bangalore will require their bowlers to step up the gas. They could miss the Chennai wicket. Bangalore need a bowler who can support Daniel Vettori. Currently, the bowling department looks nothing short of a club side with one foreign import – Vettori – leading it.
Prediction:
Bangalore should win this one despite Blues’ better bowling attack.
