Previous Results:
Interestingly, both sides come into the game with two wins, one abandoned game and a loss. Mumbai Indians began the tournament with two wins, over Chennai and Trinidad and Tobago. Then, their game against the Cobras was rained off before they went down to the New South Wales Blues.
On the other hand, the Somerset side defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders and had their game against the South Australian Redbacks abandoned. A heavy loss to Bangalore pegged their chances back but they did well to defeat the Warriors in their last game and make it to the semi-finals.
Key Players:
Mumbai Indians need their batting to click. So far, it has been a struggle for them with the bat in the hands. It was only thanks to some late-order hitting by Lasith Malinga that they were able to get to a decent score against the Super Kings; this was followed by scores of 99 and 100 in the 20 overs. Sarul Kanwar will be the man to watch out for the Mumbai Indians.
On the other hand, the Somerset side has been really bolstered by the presence of Craig Kieswetter and Ros Buttler, not to mention the hard-hitting capabilities of Roelof van der Merwe. How they bowl at the Mumbai Indians will go a long way in deciding the winner.
And they will miss...
Mumbai Indians will definitely miss a player of the stature of Sachin Tendulkar in such a game, for his experience. Somerset look totally set, but they do not have a spin bowler who can bring it back into the right-hander – something of an issue with the variety.
Prediction:
Somerset will go into the game as favourites but a lot will also depend on how well they adjust to the slow pitch.
