Sachin Tendulkar, India’s premier batsman, will soon have celebrities owning a racing team in his backed motor sports league in India.
Sachin Tendulkar To Be Co-Owner Of i1 Super Series Racing
Sachin Tendulkar will own a stake in the i1 Super Series racing which will see the start of its first season next year.


Tendulkar, who has a stake in the i1Super Series, launched earlier this year, will see the first season begin from next year. Tendulkar and Sanjana Reddy will own around 26% of the i1 Super Series, which will have teams owned by the likes of Shah rukh Khan, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh.
There will be eight, city-based teams, with each of the sides consisting of three drivers – one foreigner, one Indian international and one Indian domestic driver. The races will be held between January 8 and February 26. The investors will have the rights to the team for 15 years, and will need to shell out $20 million apiece.
This will include $5 million as down payment and $1 million each year after that. The races will be held in Delhi, Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur, Doha and Bahrain.
According to a report in the Indian daily, the Times of India, the Mumbai team could be owned by Shah Rukh Khan, Jai Mehta, Juhi Chawla, the same trio that owns the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Mohit Burman and another investor could own Delhi, with Hyderabad to be owned by N Prasad, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Chennai by Tony Fernandes and SG Srinivas, with Yuvraj and another business to go for Chandigarh, Sourav Ganguly’s consortium to own Kolkata, Pune to be owned by a businessman related to a top Bollywood family and Bangalore by another consortium.
