The pair of Wahab Riaz and Kamran Akmal could be investigated for their alleged role in spot-fixing on the tour of England last year.

With the pair of Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt pronounced guilty by the Southwark court, and Mohammad Amir having admitted his guilt, the ICC has decided that they will lead an investigation against two other Pakistan cricketers, Kamran Akmal and Wahab Riaz.

Akmal was the wicket-keeper of the Pakistani side in that ill-fated series against England last year when the scandal first broke out. On the other hand, Riaz was making his Test debut in that series.

According to an English newspaper, Daily Telegraph, the ICC could receive fresh leads from those who investigated the Butt-Asif case and that could be used against Akmal and Riaz.

According to the report in the newspaper, "The International Cricket Council will examine closely evidence gathered by police officers in London who investigated the fixing case involving three Pakistan cricketers,"

Incidentally, the names of both the players under the scanner now, Akmal and Riaz, have been bandied around ever since the scandal broke out. To add to that, Akmal’s name has been used in hush-hush tones, allegedly relating him with match-fixing given his poor wicket-keeping record.
