Cricket Australia has appointed Mickey Arthur as the coach of the Australian national cricket team. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Cricket Australia.
Mickey Arthur Is New Australia Coach
Mickey Arthur takes over from Tim Nielsen as the coach of Australia.

Arthur replaces Tim Nielsen as the coach of the side, but his role will not be restricted to the coaching of the side allocated to him. Instead, he will be expected to take over as one of the selectors in the selection panel, and will also oversee the selection policies of the state sides in Australia.
Arthur’s contract will begin from the series against New Zealand at home and will continue till the end of the 2015 World Cup to be played in Australia.
Arthur staved off competition from the likes of Tom Moody, the former Sri Lanka coach, Justin Langer, the current batting coach of Australia and Steve Rixon, former New Zealand coach and now the fielding coach of Australia.
This is the first time a non-Australian has taken over the role of coaching the national Australian side.
Arthur said, “"I am honoured and privileged to have another chance to coach an international team, particularly a team of the ilk of Australia. I think I bring a fresh, unblinkered eye to the role after plotting against Australia when coaching South Africa, and having now worked within the Australian system with the Warriors. Australia has an abundance of cricket talent and I am confident the talent is there to ensure Australia is successful.”
