Australia V New Zealand 1st Test Live: Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson, Ben Cutting Named In Test Squad
Australia have named three new-comers, Mitchell Starc, Ben Cutting and James Pattinson in their 13-man squad to take on New Zealand at the Gabba in Brisbane.

The selectors have had to go for a renewed pace attack because of the injury problems to the likes of Ryan Harris, Mitchell Johnson and Patrick Cummins, but instead of going for the tried and tested line-up of bowlers like Ben Hilfenhaus, Trent Copeland and Doug Bollinger, the selectors have decided to blood the youth.
Two of these three should make their debut.
The squad was announced by the national selector John Inverarity.
Inverarity said, "Unfortunately Mitchell Johnson, Shane Watson, Patrick Cummins, Ryan Harris and Shaun Marsh are unavailable for selection due to injury and Michael Beer and Trent Copeland are the players to have missed selection after being part of the Test squad in South Africa,"
There is also a place for Dave Warner in the squad and he will partner Phil Hughes at the top of the innings.
While Starc and Pattinson have played in a game or two at the ODI and the T20I level, Cutting has not featured in a single international. However, he has shown excellent form for the Queensland in this season of Sheffield Shield and could make a debut on his home ground.
Test squad for first game: Michael Clarke (capt), David Warner, Phillip Hughes, Usman Khawaja, Ricky Ponting, Michael Hussey, Brad Haddin (vice-capt, wk), Peter Siddle, Ben Cutting, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson
