India V West Indies Live 4th ODI: Batting Remains A Concern

India will need to bat much better than they have if they want to seal the ODI series against West Indies in the fourth match at Indore.

Both, Suresh Raina and Virender Sehwag need to score some runs in the fourth ODI of the series against West Indies.

India will look to seal the ODI series when they take on West Indies in the fourth match at Indore. The hosts lead 2-1 after scraping through in the first couple of games before being beaten in the third match.

The home team will be a tad upset that their 11-match winning streak at home has ended. What will displease them further is that they had a good chance to win the previous game, both, when they were batting and when they were bowling but messed it up because of some inept cricket.

First, they should have been able to restrict the West Indians to less than 240. In fact at 181/5 and with Darren Bravo not expected to bat because of an injury, West Indies could have been restricted to only 225. Instead, Darren Sammy and Andre Russell smashed the Indian bowling around to add 79 in the last 34 balls to guide them to 260 in their 50 overs.

Then, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir departed off the very first ball that each of them faced to leave the side struggling. Rohit Sharma continued his good run of form, getting to within five runs of a century, but with Parthiv Patel being the only other batsman crossing 35, India fell 16 runs short.

There will at least be a change apiece for both the sides. India will need to get in a medium-pacer in place of Umesh Yadav – Irfan Pathan looks most likely to get in. For West Indies, Darren Bravo misses out due to a hamstring injury that should allow either Adrian Barath or Jason Mohammad to get a look-in.

Despite the loss, India will still be favourites to win this game and clinch the series. Expect West Indies to take confidence from the previous win though and come hard at the home side.
