Chasing 148 for a win, the Mumbai Indians were accorded a flier by the Australian Aiden Blizzard, who smacked the ball around like it being his primary occupation. In the process, he got to his first ever half-century in IPL and took the score along to 81 in the eighth over.
Unfortunately for the Mumbai Indians, his dismissal to Brett Lee, set the side back as they lost another three for the addition of 22 runs only. This included the wicket of the well-set and rather vital to his team’s chances, Sachin Tendulkar, who made 36.
However, James Franklin came back strongly to guide his side to a second win in a row after he had won the man of the match award for his calm batting in the previous game as well. He made an unbeaten 29 off 25 balls that pushed the Mumbai Indians to needing six off the last over.
Harbhajan Singh finished it off with a slog over mid-wicket off the bowling of Shakib al Hasan.
Mumbai Indians now face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second Qualifier.
