It is the first, and obviously the only, T20I match of the tour between India and England. It is being played at the Old Trafford in Manchester, only metres away from the corresponding, slightly more famous home ground of Manchester United!
England V India T20I At Manchester Live Updates And Highlights
India have won the toss and decided to bat first on a slightly drier looking Old Trafford ground at Manchester in the one-off T20I.
India have won the toss and decided to bat first on a pitch that is said to be slightly on the slower side. Of course, according to the Indian captain, MS Dhoni, that will happen, unless it starts to rain in the middle of the game.
Interesting choice of players for both teams as the playing 11s of the two sides below suggest:
England squad
SCJ Broad (captain), Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Joss Buttler, Jade Dernbach, Alex Hales, Craig Kieswetter, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann
India squad
MS Dhoni (captain), Suresh Raina, R Ashwin, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel, Parthiv Patel, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, R Vinay Kumar
This means that both teams have some debutants in their line-up, Hales and Buttler for England and surprise, surprise, Dravid and Rahane for the Indians. Incidentally, this will also be Dravid’s first and last T20I. Such are the vagaries of this game, and dare I say, of the Indian selectors as well, that you have a 38-year old making his debut in a format which is often referred to as one for the youth.
Buttler plays for Somerset in county cricket and was instrumental in taking them to the final of the recently concluded Friends Life T20 tournament.
