The first ball of the 16th over, gives India a much-needed wicket. Not that it makes too much difference at this stage but it will give the Indians a chance to recoup. Eoin Morgan gets to 49 and drills it to short cover where Rohit Sharma takes a smart catch.
England V India T20I Live: England Win With Two Balls To Spare
The third umpire called in who declares the out verdict. Three off the over and India are managing to keep themselves afloat. Only just though as England need 29 from 24. Samit Patel walks out.
England: 137/4 after 16 overs
Can Praveen Kumar work his magic? Can Bopara guide the side to a win after finally getting chance to bask in the limelight? A couple of singles followed by a boundary brings the asking rate down to nearly six an over. Incidentally, there was a dropped catch, Munaf failing to get to the ball in time, at deep mid-wicket. To rub it in, the ball went to the boundary.
England: 146/4 after 17 overs
Vinay Kumar is into the attack, one of the last throw of the dies. The outfield is suddenly wet and dewy and that is making it difficult for the fielders and probably one of the reasons why the Indians have not got in too many spinners.
Well bowled by Vinay as only seven runs comes from that over – status quo remains, England on top and should win it in a canter. The inventors of IPL could be going down here.
England: 153/4 after 18 overs
A dot from Munaf to start off with, and rather funnily the bat breaks in Samit Patel’s hands off the next. Three singles after that dot ball but England are only a boundary away...no wait, it is a dot ball again to increase the gap slightly. And another dot ball to concede only three in that over.
Ten needed from the last over, will we have a Super Over, which seems to be the flavour of the season in England. There were two of them on the finals day in the Friends Life T20 semi-finals.
England: 156/4 after 19 overs
Right, so 10 needed, six balls, six wickets and Samit on strike. A wide to start off with, which looks a tad dicey. And then, an edge through to the wicket-keeper to the fence, before another edge through to the third-man tie the game. Two balls to go, and Patel lofts the ball into the outfield for a win.
England win by six wickets and with a couple of balls to spare. India have yet to win an international on the tour of England!
England: 169/4 after 19.3 overs
