Tim Bresnan will not play in the Test series against Pakistan in the UAE after not recovering from his elbow injury he suffered before. Bresnan had undergone a surgery for this injured elbow and was expected to be fit for the series.

Tim Bresnan has been ruled out of the Test series against Pakistan because of a recurring elbow injury.


Bresnan had missed the first warm-up game against ICC’s Combined XI and at the end of the game, it was deemed that he wasn’t fit enough to play in the series.
Bresnan was one of the major proponents of the reverse swing in their home series against India and his strong batting down the order helped the side out of many a sticky situations.
England’s Test match captain Andrew Strauss said that Bresnan tried to bowl after having had a good rest and an injection but the pain did not allow him to bowl. He also added that the injury rules him out of cricket for about three weeks.
Bresnan has played in 10 Test matches for England and the side has won all those 10 games he has played. He made his Test debut in May 2009 but since then, has been in and out of the squad because of injury problems.
The pace bowler has done a good job with the bat in his hands as well, averaging almost 47 in the 10 Test matches with three 50s to his name.
Graham Onions will replace Bresnan in the squad while Steven Finn will take Bresnan’s place in the playing 11.
England play another warm-up match against the PCB XI at Dubai before the first of three Tests begins from January 17 at Dubai. The second and the third Test match will be played from January 25 and February 3 respectively.
