Former West Indies captain Chris Gayle will play for Somerset in the forthcoming edition of the Friends Life t20. He wasn’t a part of any team last season while Kieron Pollard had featured for Somerset.
English T20 Live: Gayle To Play For Somerset
Chris Gayle will turn up for Somerset in the English T20 competition this year.

However, with Pollard expected to play for the West Indies at the national level and Gayle expected to be left out yet again because of his rift with the West Indies Cricket Board, he has been signed up instead.
Earlier, Gayle had talks with Middlesex but nothing seemed to have come out of it and the West Indian left-hander will now take on the role of opening the innings for Somerset. Somerset was the runner-up to Sussex in the previous edition of the T20 Cup played in England.
Gayle’s T20 record is amazing as he possesses the record for the most number of centuries in this format – five. This includes one at the international level, a 117 against South Africa. One of his centuries came off 50 balls, is the quickest in T20 cricket.
However, the cricket board of the West Indies has had some issues with his attitude and he hasn’t played a single international since the end of the World Cup.
Somerset should be bolstered by his presence after already possessing likes of Craig Kieswetter, Marcus Trescothick, Peter Trego, Roelof van der Merwe and James Hildreth in their line-up.
