It isn’t certain yet which IPL team will Chris Gayle turn out for, but one thing is almost sure – he will be looking to command a premium price. The fifth edition of the Indian Premier League that begins from April 4, will see a fight for the burly West Indian with the Royal Challengers Bangalore having the right to first refusal.
IPL 2012 Live: Will Chris Gayle Play For Bangalore?
Chris Gayle may turn up for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the fifth edition of the IPL if they can reach an agreement on his salary.

Gayle had played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first three editions of the tournament but went unsold in the fourth edition of the IPL. He later came as a replacement for Dirk Nannes and single-handedly took Royal Challengers Bangalore into the final of the IPL 2011.
Now, given that he was a replacement for Nannes and not a first-choice player, he will either have to renegotiate a deal with Bangalore or go back into the auction pool. If he goes back into the auction, the franchises will have up to a sum of $2 million to spend and there is a good chance that one or the other team will give away all its purse to get Gayle into the side.
Currently, Gayle is a part of the Sydney Thunder side in the Big Bash League in Australia and has already smashed a century and two fifties for the side. He hit two centuries in the IPL 2011 and ended with most runs in the tournament despite having missed some of the games.
