Big Bash League 2011-12 Live: Perth Play Stars, Hobart Draw Sixers In Semis
Perth Scorchers will take on Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes play Sydney Sixers in the semi-finals of the Big Bash League 2011-12. The Scorchers and the Hurricanes will be hosting the respective semi-finals.

The Scorchers began the tournament with a loss in the first game but went on to win five games in a row to seal their qualification for the semi-finals. In their final league game, Sydney Sixers managed to eke out a one-run win over Perth but the Scorchers still managed to top the table and qualify for the second stage.
Melbourne Stars needed a last match-win to make it to the semi-finals. A loss would have put them out of the tournament but they bowled well and defeated the Adelaide Strikers by six wickets and seven balls to spare. In turn, the win also snuffed out the outside chance that Brisbane Heat had of making it to the last-four stage.
In the other semi-finals, it is the Hobart Hurricanes taking on Sydney Sixers. Hurricanes made an excellent start to the season as they raced away to four wins in as many games to almost seal their semi-finals berth.
However, a run of two successive defeats would have made things a tad difficult before another stunning performance from Owais Shah won them the game against Renegades. They finished second in the table.
The Sixers were the third team to qualify as they went into their final league game with four wins from six games. Another win by a big enough margin would have given them the second spot in the points table but in the end, they had to make do with a victory over Perth but an away semi-final.
The winner of these two semi-finals will not only play in the final but also qualify for the Champions League T20 next season.
