Michael Clarke has been ruled of Australia’s game against Sri Lanka in the CB series that will be played on Friday. No replacement captain has been named yet.

Clarke suffered from an injury to his hamstring during Australia’s previous game against India at the Adelaide Oval. He struggled in the last few overs of the Indian innings and had to go off the field once to have his leg looked at.

After his complains of the hamstring strain, he underwent scans in Sydney, where it was revealed that he was suffering from grade one hamstring strain. It is yet to be known whether he will be fit to play in the game against India on Sunday.

According to Australia's team physiotherapist, Alex Kountouris, "He will not recover in time to play in Australia's next Commonwealth Bank Series game on Friday in Sydney against Sri Lanka. But I will assess him later this week and decide on his availability for the game in Brisbane on Sunday against India."

Australia have a couple of options for the captaincy, including Dave Warner and Ricky Ponting. Warner is Clarke’s deputy in the ODIs while Ponting is the former captain and a senior in the side. On the other hand, there is another option that the selectors have in the form of George Bailey.

Bailey is currently not in the squad but could be named after he led the side in the T20Is.
