Despite the truce between the Indian cricket board (BCCI) and Sahara India, the official sponsor of the Indian cricket team and the owner of an IPL franchise, it may not get easier for the two parties involved. After the BCCI allowed the Pune Warriors India (Sahara’s franchise) the luxury of playing an extra foreign player in the fifth edition of the IPL, it has been reported that the other teams are not happy with this arrangement.

Sahara had threatened to walk away from the sponsorship of the Indian team after they thought they were hard done by the BCCI which led to urgent talks between the two parties. Most of the eight points raised by Sahara were agreed to, with two of those being dependent on how the other franchises responded.

One of them was to allow Sahara an extra foreign player in the playing 11 and the other was to allow them to select players from outside the auction for their team. While the franchises were okay with the second point, it is the allowance of an extra foreign player in the team that is causing them much heartache.

It now remains to be seen whether Sahara were allowed that extra fifth foreign player or if the situation became explosive again.

The problem had risen from the time it was announced that Yuvraj Singh, the captain of the Pune Warriors side, was not going to be a part of the team because of the treatment of his cancer. Sahara had urged the BCCI to consider their request and on their denial, the franchise had threatened to walk out.
