MS Dhoni, the Indian captain has been banned for one ODI after India failed to complete their overs in time in the game against Australia on Sunday. To top it, India were crushed by 110 runs in that game at Brisbane.
MS Dhoni Banned For One Game
Indian captain will miss the game against Sri Lanka for his slow over-rate in the Australia game.

This was the second transgression that he had to face in less than a year after having failed to bowl the requisite overs within the stipulated in the World Cup 2011 final. Earlier, he was also banned from one Test against Australia when he missed bowling the overs in time at the WACA in Perth.
It remains to be seen who will captain the side in place of Dhoni. Virender Sehwag is the number one choice but given his fitness issues, it is not yet known whether he will make it to the playing 11 by Tuesday. In that case, Suresh Raina and Gautam Gambhir are the other choices India has – Gambhir being a frontrunner.
The ICC said, “At its meeting in June 2011 in Hong Kong, the ICC Executive Board had discussed the issue of slow over-rates and accepted the recommendation of the ICC Cricket Committee that a captain of an international side should be suspended for one match if his side is guilty of two minor over-rate offences in the same format over a 12-month period."
Earlier in 2009, Dhoni was banned for two games in the ODI series against Sri Lanka as well, making this his third such transgression.
