Bangladesh Shock India In Asia Cup

Bangladesh beat India by five wickets in the fourth match of Asia Cup. Chasing a stiff total of 289 posted by India, Bangladesh got there in the 50th over.
After Nazimuddin fell early, Tamim Iqbal and Jahurul Islam gave Bangladesh exactly the start they needed in pursuit of a big target. Nassir Hossain who came at the fall of Islam’s wicket ensured that wickets didn’t fall in a heap. Finally Shakib Al Hasan’s and Mushfiqur Rahman’s timely blows got Bangladesh past the total. While the main talking point of the day was Sachin Tendulkar’s hundredth century, India it seems forgot that there was a match to win. The fast bowlers bowled poorly and with 34 needed of 18 balls, Pathan bowled an atrocious over in which he gave 19 runs and with it the match. T Iqbal, J Islam and N Hossain scored half centuries while Praveen Kumar took three wickets.
Earlier, India with the help of Tendulkar’s majestic yet sedate century erected a competitive target. Kohli scored a well compiled 66 while Raina made a quickfire 51 off 38 balls.
The loss means that India’s qualification to the Asia Cup final has become tricky. Their game against Pakistan on Sunday becomes a do or die match, if they wish to make it to the final.
