Australia Win To Draw The Series

Australia beat West Indies in the fifth and final one-dayer of the five match series by 30 runs to draw the series 2-2.
West Indies were set a target of 282 but their chase never got going. Brett Lee and Ben Hilfenhaus were on the money from the word go, and gave very little away. Brett Lee picked two wickets in his first two overs. Darren Bravo and Dwayne Bravo didn’t last long either. When Barath fell for 42 with West Indies score on 76, it brought man-in-form Pollard to the crease. Sadly for West Indies, despite hitting two big sixes he couldn’t make a substantial contribution and became West Indies’ seventh wicket to fall, with the score on 118. Darren Sammy and Andre Russel then put together the biggest partnership of the West Indies innings giving the crowd some hope. Sammy reached his fifty from only 20 balls and when he fell for 84, West Indies run chase ended.
Earlier, Sammy put Australia in after winning the toss and the way the Australian openers began, he surely must have felt he made a mistake. Shane Watson and David Warner both scored half centuries. At 193 for 2 in the 36th over, Australia looked set for a huge score. But after Forrest fell for 53, the Australian lost its way a little bit, finally ending at 281. Sammy was brilliant in the field taking four wickets. But finally the Australian scored proved to be enough.
