Deccan Chargers finally notched their first win of IPL 2012 when he beat Pune Warriors by 18 runs. The much talked about, but yet to deliver Cameron White scored a whirlwind 78 runs off 46 balls, including 5 sixes, as was deservedly the man of the match.

Parthiv Patel and Dhawan got the team off to a flier, but the team from Hyderabad lost the latter- their best batsmen till now first. Parthiv after batting well got run out, while Sangakkara never seemed to get going as Rahul Sharma castled him for 12. However, Cameron White did the bulk of the scoring. The most striking feature of his hitting was his straight hitting. He never had to slog across the line to look for runs, almost all his sixes coming in the ‘V’. Getting steady support from JP Duminy, DC reached 177 in their quota. Alphonso Thomas was the best bowler on show for Pune as he conceded just 27 in his 4 overs.
Pune was always behind the eight ball, and none of the batsmen could really threaten for too long. Ganguly looked good with a six and couple of boundaries but got out soon after having a catch dropped. The left arm spinner Ankit Sharma who opened the bowling kept a tight leash at the top of the innings. Manpreet Gony was the unlikely hero for Deccan with the bowling, as he gave away just 27 in his quota of overs and took the wicket of the Pune captain. Rusty Theron who was played instead of Dale Steyn too played with his part with sharp yorkers at the end of the innings. That Pune could reduce the margin of loss to 18 was thanks largely to Steve Smith who managed 26 off 13 balls with three sixes.
With a win under their belt now, Deccan do not have anymore time to waste, and cannot afford to lose any more matches.
