IPL: Kolkata Knight Riders Trump Mumbai Indians To Go Second

The Kolkata Knight Riders produced one of the best bowling performances of the tournament to avenge their previous defeat against the Mumbai Indians. The attack lead by Sunil Narine and supported by Balaji, Shakib and Abdullah tied the much famed Mumbai Indians batting line up in knots, as KKR put it across their opposition by 32 runs.
Put in to bat first, KKR started badly as McCullum fell prey to as poor an umpiring decision as one would ever see. Kallis got bowled by RP Singh first ball. The innings looked to be in tatters as Gambhir too departed with the score on 44 in 8.3 overs. Manoj Tiwary built the innings in association with Shakib and then Pathan, but got dismissed at an inopportune time. KKR finally finished on 140 in their quota of overs, a score that looked below par on a wicket favourable for batting.
As has been their was, Mumbai started their chase cautiously. Balaji got the ball to swing and troubled Gibbs outside the offstump, while Sachin found Shakib Al Hasan tough to get away. The run rate was suffering and Gibbs departed. Karthik and Sachin tried to repair the innings, but the great man too found the guile of Sunil Narine too tough to understand. Iqbal Abdullah too joined in the fun, as the spinners and Balaji strangled the batsmen. The coup de grace though was administered by Kallis when he dismissed Pollard and Dwayne Smith off consecutive deliveries. Mumbai never seemed to be in with a chance of chasing the score right from ball one, and Sunil Narine's last two overs only hastened the end, and caused major embarrassment to the batting line up.
With that result, KKR and MI swap places with each other to become number 2 and number 3 respectively.
