IPL: Gilchrist On Come Back Leads From Front In An Allround Performance For Kings XI

In a match where Adam Gilchrist returned back from his hamstring injury, Kings XI inflicted a humiliating 6 wicket win over Chennai Super Kings. The captain was the player of the match, as he pouched four catches and followed that up with an innings of 64.
In a near must win match, the CSK batsmen put in an insipid performance as none of the top four batsmen could get going. Praveen Kumar and Ryan Harris made the ball talk on a pitch conducive for swing bowling, as the score read 46/4 in 10.2 overs with Dhoni's dismissal. Dwayne Bravo was the only one to show any sort of control, as he made 48 in 43 balls. Parvinder Awana who impresses with every match, did the same again. His four overs yielded just 12 runs and got him two wickets.
Gilchrist who replaced Shaun Marsh at the top of the order looked like the only batsman on either side who could bat on a swinging wicket. He took control of the innings right from the start, while Mandeep Singh played and missed and managed a few boundaries. The partnership was worth 51 and was just the start Punjab would have hoped for. The quick dismissals of Saini and Hussey set the cat amongst the pigeons, but Gilchrist was in irresistible touch and shepherded the team to a thumping victory.
The win reignites the Kings XI campaign, as another victory might seen them through to the play offs. While Chennai Super Kings have now played out all their matches and would depend on the results from the other matches to know their fate.
