Tour de France streaming: How to watch Saturday’s 1st stage online

You can watch the first stage -- and every stage after that -- from the Tour de France via NBC’s Tour de France Live service.

Doug Pensinger

The first stage of the 100th Tour de France gets underway on Saturday. Riders will go through Corsica for the first time in the race’s history, and it projects to be a sprinter-heavy stage. There is only one significant ascent in the 213-kilometer course, a category four climb about 45 kilometers into the race.

Between the climb and the end: plenty of sprinters’ territory. There are quite a few wavy turns throughout the final 60 kilometers or so, which could give the non-sprinters some good time to catch up. There’s a preview of the opening stage at Podium Cafe, where they believe Mark Cavendish will take the win.

Television coverage of the Tour de France will be carried by NBC in the United States. The first stage will be televised on NBC Sports Network at 7:30 a.m. ET. If you can’t catch the race on your TV, NBC is offering full coverage online via Tour de France Live.

The Tour de France Live package will cover every stage throughout the race in high definition. They also advertise being able to pause and rewind, and will offer specific coverage of your favorite rider through their tracker. Tour de France Live does require a subscription, however.
