Tour de France 2013 standings: Chris Froome still in yellow, Alberto Contador climbs into 2nd

Chris Froome continues to pull away from the field at the 2013 Tour de France. He won Wednesday’s individual mountain time trial to expand his lead, adding nine seconds to the gap between himself and now-second place Alberto Contador. Contador and Saxo-Tinkoff teammate Roman Kreuziger did a nice job to separate themselves from the rest of the top ten, but it’s clear at this point that the Tour is Froome’s to lose with just four stages left.

Bauke Mollema fell from second place to fourth after finishing 11th on the day. He is now just 35 seconds ahead of Nairo Quintana, who showed off his climbing chops yet again with a sixth place finish on Wednesday.

There were no changes atop the points and climber classifications. Peter Sagan will continue to wear the green jersey on Stage 18. Froome is still the king of the mountains, but he won’t wear the polka dot jersey if he can ride in yellow. Quintana is in second place on the climber classification, but he is currently wearing white as the best young rider, so the polka dot jersey has been handed down to third place Mikel Nieve Iturralde.
