The first week of the 2017 Tour de France is serving up a pu pu platter of stage types. On Stage 2, we’ll get the first (of many) true sprint stages as the Tour leaves Germany for a finish in Liège, Belgium.
Tour de France 2017 live stream: Time, TV schedule, and route for Stage 2
Stage 2 will feature the first outright sprint of the 2017 Tour de France.

Don’t expect the yellow jersey to change. A likely mass finish should mean that Stage 1 winner, Geraint Thomas, will still be the man atop the general classification heading into a more interesting Stage 3. Sunday is a day for the sprinters, pure and simple. It will be a good look at who will have the legs over the next three weeks to possibly challenge Peter Sagan for the green points jersey.
Stage 2 will start at approximately 6:30 a.m. ET in Düsseldorf and run 203.5 kilometers to Liège. NBCSN will pick up television coverage at 8 a.m. ET. The stage will be streamed live through NBCSport.com and the NBC Sports app, also beginning at 8 a.m. Those with a subscription to NBC Sports Gold can watch from the very start of the stage.
The most likely winners will be many of the usual suspects from Tours past. Along with Sagan, Mark Cavendish, Andé Greipel, Marcel Kittel, and Alexander Kristoff will all have a say in the proceedings.
They won’t get to the finish line without some intrigue, mind you. The stage does a Category 4 climb just before a mostly-downhill final 12 kilometers. If you wanted to wait until the last 10 minutes of the stage to tune in, however, no one could blame you.
