David Silva may miss Manchester City Champions League match with injured hamstring

David Silva injured his hamstring in Spain’s 1-1 draw with France and now his status for Manchester City’s upcoming matches is in doubt.

David Silva went down just 12 minutes into Spain's 1-1 draw with France on Tuesday and now his status for Manchester City's upcoming matches, including next week's Champions League clash against Ajax, is in doubt. Silva will undergo a scan to determine the severity of the injury and then a determination will be made about his availability for the next couple weeks.

Silva did not look good when he went to the turf on Tuesday and there was never much of an effort for him to stay in the match. That does not bode well for Silva and City, although there is the possibility that the injury felt worse at the time than it actually was.

City will play West Bromwich Albion this weekend, then head to Amsterdam to take on Ajax. With just one point from their first two Champions League matches and Ajax the unquestioned bottom team in the group, the Citizens desperately need to get three points at the Amsterdam Arena. Playing without Silva will obviously make that much more difficult.

In better news for City, Vincent Kompany played for Belgium and came away healthy. He had been bothered by a calf injury, but looks fully fit now.
