Liverpool vs. Reading: Lineups

Pepe Reina does not make the Liverpool team as they take on Reading at Anfield.

Clive Brunskill

Liverpool have been hit with a blow in the news that Pepe Reina has not regained fitness in time to race Reading at Anfield.

Reserve goalkeeper Brad Jones will start in his stead in a Liverpool lineup that features several other young players, including Andre Wisdom, Raheem Sterling, and Suso. Fabio Borini's injury means that the latter has been given a starting berth, with Brendan Rodgers' men having few forwards available in their squad.

Reading meanwhile opt for a 4-4-1-1 formation with Danny Guthrie just behind Pavel Pogrebnyak up front. Alex McCarthy continues his stint in goal ahead of Australian keeper Adam Federici.

Liverpool (4-3-3): Brad Jones; Andre Wisdom, Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel; Nuri Sahin, Steven Gerrard, Joe Allen; Raheem Sterling, Suso, Luis Suarez.

Reading (4-4-1-1): Alex McCarthy; Shaun Cummings, Nicky Shorey, Kaspars Gorkss, Adrian Mariappa; Jem Karacan, Mikele Leigertwood, Jimmy Kebe, Jobi McAnuff ; Danny Guthrie; Pavel Pogrebnyak.
