However, though Spurs are down in a rather underwhelming seventh place heading into the round, they are only a couple of points adrift of the final Champions League qualification place. Three consecutive wins -- though far from hardly convincing, as is Spurs’ wont -- have moved Mauricio Pochettino’s side up into the European mix, and with home advantage, they may well fancy their chances of nicking a result.
Key player - Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
This season is proving to be a breakout one for Spurs striker Harry Kane. With Emmanuel Adebayor -- who has been on leave in Africa for personal reasons -- looking unlikely to make a first team return any time soon, and Roberto Soldado unlikely to find the net any time ever, the 21-year-old has been thrust into Spurs' attack. So far, he's taking his chance. He'll look to add to his 13 goals in all competitions against United's shaky defence.
Key matchup - Erik Lamela vs. Ashley Young
Erik Lamela had a disappointing start to life at Tottenham Hotspur, and was essentially frozen out of White Hart Lane in his first season. However, he’s started to make up for lost time under Pochettino, and has established himself as a fixture in his compatriot’s first team. Against makeshift wing-back Ashley Young, he could cause big problems in this match.
