Manchester United making another Monaco raid?

Out of form midfielder Joao Moutinho might follow Radamel Falcao to Old Trafford, if the latest rumours are to be believed.

Perhaps Manchester United aren't finished raiding Monaco after all? Having already picked up Radamel Falcao on a year-long loan, United are apparently honing in on another wantaway star. Joao Mourinho, who starred alongside Falcao at Porto before the Colombian moved onto Atlético Madrid.

Moutinho represents a slightly less luxurious purchase for United, what with being a possession-minded midfielder, but his form in Ligue 1 was poor last season and he doesn’t have the defensive mettle that Louis van Gaal’s side so desperately needs. Nor does he possess the sort of talent which might encourage them to rule the dice -- at his best he was a very good midfielder rather than a genuine star. On a cheap deal, he has the potential to be a useful pickup, but having gone to Monaco, Moutinho’s hardly cheap anymore.

If Monaco really are desperate to offload him, we might see this deal happening, but it’s difficult to imagine Manchester United spending serious money on the Portugal international.
