Eagles WR DeSean Jackson Passes First Concussion Test, On Track To Play After Bye

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said on his radio show this week that WR DeSean Jackson has passed his first concussion test yesterday. The first test of the NFL's concussion protocol is a team administered test. The player must be symptom free and team doctors must clear him to play. The next step is for Jackson to be cleared by an independent neurologist.

It is somewhat surprising to hear that Jackson is symptom free and passing concussion tests after the initial reports said he sustained a “severe” concussion. It should be noted that the genesis of that “severe concussion’ report was simply how Jay Glazer characterized it. No doctor or anyone connected to the Eagles ever characterized it that way. In fact, on the day after the hit Andy Reid said that Jackson’s biggest complaint was soreness in his shoulder and neck area.

Either way, it certainly seems that DeSean Jackson is on track to play when the Eagles return from their bye in two weeks against the Indianapolis Colts.
