Antonio Gates Injury Has Him Doubtful Week 9 Vs. Texans

Chargers TE Antonio Gates should be taken out of your fantasy football starting lineup. He's listed as doubtful because of toe and foot injuries against the Texans in Week 9. Gates had trouble walking earlier this week and hasn't practiced so it's no surprise he's unlikely to go.

So how do you replace Gates?

His backup, TE Randy McMichael, may actually be a decent option. Philip Rivers is running out of targets with a pair of receivers out on Sunday due to injury and the Texans are prone to big games against tight ends.

Anyone catching the ball in San Diego is a decent candidate for your fantasy football lineup. Philip Rivers is on pace for record passing yards and leads one of the top scoring offenses in the NFL.

All is not lost for Antonio Gates this year. The Chargers have a Week 10 bye so there’s some hope, assuming he’s out Week 9, he’ll be able to go after a couple weeks off.
