NFL Week 9 Fantasy Football Updates: Jimmy Graham Records First Career Touchdown

After tight end Jeremy Shockey caught a touchdown pass, he endured a brutal hit which caused him to leave the game with an apparent back injury.

That was when tight end Jimmy Graham decided to step up and catch his first career NFL touchdown pass.

The Saints were just inside the Panthers’ 20 yard line, and were facing a “2nd and 5” situation. QB Drew Brees started the down with a play-fake, the defense bit on it, and Graham was open in the corner of the end zone.

Brees found him, and Graham caught his first career touchdown pass from 19 yards out.

There will be other opportunities for Graham to succeed with Shockey out of the game. Right now, the Saints have 17 points, 14 of which have come to tight ends. Defensively, Panthers have been rolling coverage focusing on WR Marques Colston, but Brees spreads it around so well and has found other open receivers instead.
