Montario Hardesty Injury Update: Browns RB Suffers Moderate Tear Of Calf Muscle

The Cleveland Browns suffered a tough 20-10 loss Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers and now have suffered a further loss. Running back Montario Hardesty left the game in the first quarter with a calf injury and it has now been revealed to be a moderate calf tear that will leave him out "some time."

Hardesty was filling in at the starting running back position for Peyton Hillis who has been dealing with his own hamstring issue. Hillis was deactivated for Sunday's game and remains day-to-day with his injury. Chris Ogbonnaya filled in for Hardesty after he went down and will likely be in line for more carries week nine against the Houston Texans.

Given Hardesty's injury and Hillis' own gimpy status, it would not be surprising to see the Browns bring in some running backs for workouts to fill out the depth chart. The Browns head to Houston this weekend and could find themselves playing from behind, particularly if the Texans get Andre Johnson back in the fold. None of the Browns running backs is a quality play at this point.
