The long journey back from a hamstring injury continues to wind along for Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson. The Texans number one receiver is sitting out Wednesday practice but still has a shot at playing this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Johnson has been out approximately a month at this point.
Andre Johnson Injury Update: Texans WR Sits Out Wednesday Practice
The Texans have a bye in two weeks, so it will be interesting to see if they get him some playing time in advance of the bye week. Some would suggest simply holding him out these next two weeks to get him to 100%. However, if he is close, one advantage to playing him now is that if there is still some soreness after one of these next two games, you will that bye week to heal it up. Hamstring injuries are a tough call because of how easily they can be aggravated.
The Texans have gone with a bit of a committee approach at receiver in recent weeks. This past week, Kevin Walter was the leading receiver, with Owen Daniels and Jacoby Jones getting a decent number of looks. Joel Dreessen has become the red zone threat. It makes for a fantasy football mess if you are trying to predict who will get the targets on a week to week basis. Arian Foster is the most consistent threat while Kevin Walter has the most upside in this short-term situation.
