Matthew Stafford Fantasy Recap: Lions QB Lights Up Panthers Secondary

The Detroit Lions won a shootout with the Carolina Panthers Sunday afternoon, coming from behind to take down the high-flying Panthers 49-35. The Panthers jumped on top 24-7 behind a strong performance from Cam Newton, but Matthew Stafford and Kevin Smith keyed a strong Lions comeback.

Stafford proved once again how weak the Panthers secondary is as he lit them up for 335 passing yards and five touchdowns. He threw a pair of interceptions but overcame them with his best fantasy performance of the season. The performance gave him back-to-back 300-yard passing games with a very solid schedule the rest of the way as fantasy playoffs approach.

This coming week the Lions host the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving. The Packers remain undefeated, but they also have had some holes emerge in their secondary. The Lions will want to control the clock against Green Bay, but there is a very good chance they end up in a shootout with the Packers. After the Packers, the Lions travel to New Orleans, host Minnesota, travel to Oakland and host San Diego in week 16. All of those matchups provide strong fantasy potential for Stafford.
